It’s generally OK to leave your Nexus 7 on all the time. It uses very little power while in standby mode, and is quick to access when you need it. There may be instances though, especially if you won’t be using your Nexus 7 for some time, when you want to turn it off. Thankfully, it’s easy to do.
- Locate the Power button on the top of the right side of your Nexus 7, just above the volume controls.
- Press the power button once to turn on the screen, then press and hold the power button for 1 or 2 seconds until a menu appears with a “Power off” option.
- Tap the “Power off” option and you’ll get a confirmation message saying “Your tablet will shut down”.
- Tap “OK” and a Shutting down… message will appear, and the tablet will turn off within approximately 10 seconds.
When you want to use your Nexus 7 again, press the same Power button and you’ll see the Google logo appear on the screen. The Nexus 7 will boot up and should be accessible within 1 minute.
